Our People

Training & Development

It is essential for the success of our operations that all our employees have the knowledge, skills and capability to deliver services consistent with the aims and objectives of ASCS and thereby providing the highest levels of service and satisfaction to our customers. To support this we invest time and resource in the training and development of our people.

We provide a significant advantage to new clients by providing a specialised, trained, motivated and developed workforce. Therefore, in outsourcing to ASCS, clients can be confident that the people delivering the service will receive the necessary specialist training and be given the opportunities to develop their capabilities and careers.

There are a number of areas in respect of training that Approved Spotless Cleaning Services focus upon:

Induction training
This is the initial training prior to commencement of duties. This is undertaken to suit each individual requirement. Topics include:

  • Customer care
  • Customer needs
  • Image & presentation
  • Site cleaning needs
  • Equipment
  • Chemicals
  • Health & safety
  • Pay & benefits
  • ASCS procedures
  • Customer procedures

Ongoing Site Training
This is generally carried out 'on-the-job' in accordance with the requirements of each particular site and is carried out by ASCS (or sometimes in association with customers if it involves customer equipment or systems).

Specialist Training
This can be anything from First Aid at Work (FAW) to forklift truck (FLT) driving and will be provided by a suitably qualified training provider.

NVQs
ASCS provides the opportunity for employees to achieve National Vocational Qualifications. We believe that the increased motivation of our people through investment in their development and recognition of their skills increases their effectiveness and helps to create a flexible, multi-skilled, adaptable workforce. ASCS operate a scheme to offer all staff the opportunity to undertake NVQ Level 2 In Providing Cleaning Services or other essential skills. This provides staff with a valuable qualification, assists them with their work and so enhances the level of service on site.

Career progression
We promote on merit and experience and so the opportunity for promotion within ASCS is very good. Many of our supervisors have started as cleaners and have been promoted internally, in fact we always advertise any vacancy internally and encourage suitable team members to apply. On at least a dozen sites the current site supervisors were previously cleaning operatives who have made the transition to supervisory / management roles. At one site we had a Manager previously supervising a team of five and through ongoing support he is now successfully managing a team of 30.
